Nelson Mandela made a mark on the world by not being afraid to take action on what he believed was right and unjustified. It is to be said that Mandela dedicated his life to the struggle to end racial segregation and white majority rule under the apartheid system in South America. Nelson started taking action when he was just a minor. Mandela was arrested for the first time by South African police for violating curfew. That did not sit right with Mandela so he decided to take action. In 1956 Mandela and 150 other were arrested and charged for treason for their political advocacy. This trail gained world wide attention. During the time they spent in jail which was two years they were held under harsh and intolerable conditions. During this time Mandela secretly kept a journal describing his life and thoughts during his imprisonment. Nelson Mandela's testimony in court in their defends is regarded as one of the most profound antiapartheid comments made. Mandela spoke unafraid as he took stand in what he believed in. On the day of March 29. 1961 the judge found Mandela and the other defendant guilty. Mandela spent twenty years in jail. Upon Nelsons release from prison he imminently urged foreign powers not to reduce their pressure on the South American government for constitutional reform. Mandela's work paid off by in 1994 he was elected president of the area of achievement government and politics. Mandela wanted to share how he survived and accomplished his goal by writing an autobiography "Long Walk to Freedom". In his autobiography Nelson described and summed up how his years in prison changed and expanded his thinking about freedom. Nelson Mandela took stand and wasn't afraid to let his voice be heard and in the end he was awarded with bring change to the world.
